The log cabin is built from simple strips added around a center square, which makes it forgiving for a first quilt and endlessly variable once you understand it — rotate the blocks and the same pieces become Barn Raising, Straight Furrows, or Sunshine and Shadow.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eCharlene covers what actually matters at the start: cutting accurately with a rotary cutter and ruler, holding a consistent quarter-inch seam, pressing so your blocks lie flat, and choosing lights and darks so the pattern reads the way you intend. No prior quilting experience needed, and no math you cannot do in your head.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eYou leave knowing how to make the block, how to arrange it, and what to do next.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eWhat to bring:\u003c\/strong\u003e your sewing machine in good working order, or use a shop machine at no extra charge.
